Employee
Hotlines are not unlike the 1-800-TIPS lines that we read
about in our newspapers or see on T.V. shows such as America's
Most Wanted.
Hotlines in the Corporate World began in the early 1970s in
the US and proliferated to many large and smaller companies
in both the US and Canada. General Motors initiated a Hotline
worldwide in September 1995. The Unions treated it with disdain,
brother reporting on brother, however, it survived the criticism
and is now a part of doing business.
The majority of employees see Hotlines as a way to reach Top
Management - anonymously. It is a way to receive action on
a situation that disturbs them. Activities by a minority of
employees that are jeopardizing a Company's profitability
or the morale of the majority of fellow employees. Theft,
fraud, use of drugs or alcohol or the abuses of the Company's
Benefits system are some of the "TIPS" that come
through the Hotline. Employees realize that for job security
and salary increases a company must have profitability.
Introspec supplies a bilingual 1-800-HELP line that includes
a quarterly Safety & Security newsletter specifically
designed for your company.
